Day 1 : PARIS > CAPE TOWN Upon arrival at the airport receive assistance with embarkation. Scheduled overnight flight. Day 2: CAPE TOWN Breakfast on board, arrival and welcome by our local correspondent. Lunch. Visit city: Founded in 1652, Cape Town is known as the ‘Mother City’ - the historical and cultural heart of South Africa. Visit the Castle of Good Hope, the Malay Quarter, or the ‘Bo-Kaap’, characterised by its mosques and very old original houses as well as Georgian- and Dutch- style architecture and buildings of Eastern influence. Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain to discover one of the most spectacular panoramas in the world. Hotel, dinner and overnight. Day 3: CAPE TOWN - WINELANDS Breakfast. Travel by coach to FRANSCHHOEK - the ‘French corner’ which is situated in an idyllic valley originally settled by French Huguenots and Dutch colonists in the 17th century. Here, the ‘culture of the vine’ began in South Africa and succeeding generations of South Africans became masters in the making of fine wines, paying homage to France’s traditional vine cultivars and wine-making techniques. Wine tasting at one of the farms of the area and lunch. STELLENBOSCH, the hub of the South African wine industry, is a historic town founded in 1679 boasting many magnificent examples of houses in the ‘Cape Dutch’ style. It is famed for its charm and dolce vita. Back to Cape Town, dinner and overnight. Day 4: CAPE PENINSULA Breakfast. Visit the Cape Peninsula, stop at HOUT BAY, a picturesque fishing port and embark for a sea excursion towards Duiker Island (Seal Island). Then discover the Cape Point Nature Reserve, an area of 7.750 ha which has a profusion of indigenous flora and flora. Lunch. Visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, one of the richest in the world. Visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, which, with its many shops and restaurants, has revitalised a large section of the old Cape Town harbour. Dinner and overnight. Day 5: CAPE TOWN > JOHANNESBURG / NELSPRUIT Breakfast. Depart for the airport and take flight to JOHANNESBURG, Travel by road towards NELSPRUIT. Lunch. Visit the Ndebele village. Resume journey to Nelspruit. Dinner and overnight. Day 6: NELSPRUIT / KRUGER NATIONAL PARK / NELSPRUIT Breakfast. Take a safari through the southern part of the KRUGER NATIONAL PARK which spans an area of 350 km by 60 km and shares a section of border with Mozambique. This park is an African Noah’s Ark with its 507 species of birds, 147 species of mammals and 50 species of fish. It is the kingdom of the elephant, and the hunting grounds of lion, leopard and cheetah. Lunch. Safari. Return to Nelspruit. Dinner and overnight. Day 7: NELSPRUIT / KRUGER NATIONAL PARK / KAPAMA / SWADINI Breakfast. Morning safari in the Kruger National Park. Lunch. Depart for a private reserve and safari convoys in 4x4 at dusk, the ideal time for game viewing. Dinner in a traditional ‘boma’ around a campfire in the African savanna. Day 8: BLYDE RIVER CANYON / PRETORIA Breakfast. Discover the soaring peaks of the Drakensberg and the plains of the Western Transvaal. Travel by coach to the Blyde River Canyon, which, with its fantastic rock formations carved out by thundering waters over the eons, is one of the great natural wonders of South Africa. Then visit PILGRIM’S REST, a museum town where a single street of restored wooden houses dates from the time of the Gold Rush at the end of the 19th century. Lunch. Pretoria. Dinner and overnight. Day 9: PRETORIA / JOHANNESBURG > PARIS Breakfast. Although it is the administrative capital of the country, PRETORIA has retained the peaceful atmosphere of a provincial town. Among its noteworthy monuments are the Union Buildings (where Nelson Mandela was inaugurated President in 1994), the Voortrekker Monument which commemorates the tumultuous history of the Great Trek with its ox wagon trains transporting pioneers from Cape Town to the far interior, and the beautiful Church public gardens. Lunch. Experience a ride through JOHANNESBURG yielding a panoramic view of the city. Transfer to the airport where you will receive assistance with embarkation. Scheduled overnight flight to Paris. Day 10: PARIS Arrive in Paris in the morning. |
